Apple shares fall despite 16 percent revenue jump as AI spending fears persist

Apple reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $109.4 billion, net profit of $29.8 billion and earnings per share of $2.02. Revenue rose 16 percent from a year earlier. The company also disclosed record quarterly research and development spending of $11.73 billion, up 32 percent year on year, bringing fiscal 2026 cumulative R&D spending to $34.04 billion. Apple shares fell about 4 percent in after-hours trading after the results.
