An analysis said Tesla\'s Semi electric heavy-duty truck could post a total cost of ownership up to $404,000 lower than a diesel Class 8 truck under current U.S. fuel prices, though savings depend heavily on electricity rates and diesel prices. With power at $0.12 per kWh and diesel at $5.35 a gallon, the Semi\'s five-year TCO was estimated at $486,000 versus $633,000 for diesel. Above $0.30 per kWh, the Semi\'s economics weakened sharply.

Electrek reported California-based logistics and charging infrastructure firms are signing contracts, including WattEV\'s 370-truck deal and additional orders through Forum Mobility. Buyers plan to deploy the trucks for port drayage around Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland, citing predictable routes, dedicated charging hubs and lower lifetime costs than diesel.
