Next $1 trillion company to come from robots, humanoids emerge as biggest market after AI and chips

Humanoid robots are drawing attention as the next stage of the AI revolution, with investors and analysts forecasting a new mega-market over the next decade. CNBC reported that global investors and industry experts expect rapid growth driven by advances in physical AI, and SoftBank Chairman Masayoshi Son raised expectations by citing the possibility of a next $1 trillion company. Barclays estimates the market could grow from about $2 billion to $3 billion now to $200 billion by 2035.

Unitree clears key hurdle for Shanghai IPO as China\'s humanoid robot listing wave gathers pace

Chinese humanoid robot maker Unitree has passed a key review for a Shanghai listing, moving closer to registration and issuance. The Hangzhou-based company applied to list on the STAR Market on March 20 and plans to offer at least 40.4 million shares to raise 4.2 billion yuan, or at least 10 percent of equity. It said rising R&D and selling costs hurt profitability and plans to devote half the proceeds to AI-based robot model development.

China steps up humanoid robot job training to prepare deployment in factories and services

China is stepping up preparations to deploy humanoid robots in the labour market, using government-backed training centres to build capabilities for factory and service jobs. At a Beijing humanoid robot data training centre, robots repeatedly learn tasks such as factory work, housework, shelf sorting and metal repairs. Instructors use cameras, motion capture and remote controls to generate training data for AI. Some robots are already being trialled in roles including chefs, bartenders and traffic police.
