Countries expand social media bans for teens amid doubts over effectiveness

More countries are moving to ban or restrict social media use by children and teenagers despite questions over effectiveness. Britain plans to ban social media for all under-16s from early 2027, covering apps including Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. Australia has already imposed a similar ban, and Malaysia has started enforcing rules against under-16 accounts. Other countries, including Indonesia, Brazil and several EU members, are pursuing comparable measures.

SOOP rolls out AI that learns streamers\' speech and style to enable 24/7 interaction

An AI-based \"virtual manager\" has been introduced to the live streaming ecosystem. SOOP said on June 9 it unveiled a beta version of its SARSA 2.0 AI manager service to support streamers\' broadcast operation and user communication. The update focuses on continuity, allowing streams to continue even when a streamer is away or asleep. SARSA 2.0 learns from VOD and broadcast data to recreate a streamer’s tone and atmosphere and interact with viewers.

Snowflake updates CoCo coding agent to boost autonomous execution

Snowflake said on Monday it unveiled new features for its CoCo coding agent and introduced Datastream, a fully managed streaming service based on Apache Kafka, at its Snowflake Summit 26 event. The company launched CoCo Desktop, a mobile app and a Slackbot, and added extensions and plugins including for VS Code and Microsoft Excel. It also strengthened CoCo’s autonomous execution and automation with access controls and audit trails.
