SOOP buys new Pangyo headquarters, to unify work bases by Q1 2028
SOOP said on Thursday it has decided to buy land and a building at GB2-C in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. It plans to use the building as its headquarters and research and development center. The company will gradually relocate management, technology and business units and key affiliates now spread across multiple sites. The move is to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and finish by the first quarter of 2028.

SOOP joins Creator Media Fair with offline content programmes
SOOP said on Aug. 27 it will take part in the 2026 Creator Media Fair on Aug. 28 to 29 at COEX Magok in Seoul. It will run offline programmes where streamers and users meet in person, including mukbang and cooking shows, venue tours and a tarot experience. The company will also operate a consultation zone for aspiring streamers, offering one-on-one guidance on registration and technical support.

Countries expand social media bans for teens amid doubts over effectiveness
More countries are moving to ban or restrict social media use by children and teenagers despite questions over effectiveness. Britain plans to ban social media for all under-16s from early 2027, covering apps including Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. Australia has already imposed a similar ban, and Malaysia has started enforcing rules against under-16 accounts. Other countries, including Indonesia, Brazil and several EU members, are pursuing comparable measures.
