KT Cloud said on Wednesday it will break ground on its own 50-megawatt Ansan AI Data Centre to expand AI infrastructure supply in the Seoul metropolitan area and meet demand for high-density AI servers.

The company said the project is part of KT Cloud's strategy to supply 1 gigawatt of AIDC capacity by 2031 and is aimed at expanding the base for high-density AI infrastructure supply in the metropolitan area.

The Ansan AIDC is a hyperscale, AI-dedicated data centre with a total power receiving capacity of 50 MW. It will have a gross floor area of about 36,878 square metres, with 2 basement floors and 9 above-ground floors, and is targeted for completion in 2029. KT Cloud said it reflected specialised designs across power, cooling and building structures to account for the characteristics of high-density, high-heat AI servers.

KT Cloud said it plans to secure new data centres sequentially, including the Ansan AIDC, to boost its AI infrastructure supply capacity and strengthen technology competitiveness to respond to next-generation AI server environments.

Kim Bong-gyun (김봉균), CEO of KT Cloud, said the Ansan AI Data Centre is a project that reflects power and cooling infrastructure optimised for high-density AI servers and next-generation design technologies. He said the company will provide stable and efficient AI infrastructure based on its accumulated experience building and operating data centres and its in-house technology capabilities, and respond to customers' various technical requirements.
