G-Star expands content to AI, webtoons and mobility, reduces reliance on game studios
G-Star, South Korea\'s largest game exhibition, plans to broaden its scope to AI, webtoons and mobility while expanding organiser-led in-house content to reduce dependence on participating game studios. The organisers named expansion of industry and audience reach and increased in-house content as key strategies for G-Star 2026, to be held in Busan in November. AI story platform Crack will be main sponsor, and Hyundai Motor will run a special programme.

Warning signs as game industry growth slows, calls for tax credits for production costs
As growth and exports in South Korea\'s game industry slow, participants at a policy forum called for expanded support such as tax credits for game production costs. Korea Creative Content Agency executive Song Jin said games account for about 15 percent of content industry sales and 60.4 percent of exports, but get 6.9 percent of the budget. He projected 2030 targets would be missed without additional intervention. Speakers also urged tax and financing measures and listing incentives.

Redbrickhouse raises investment from Kakao Ventures to support indie games\' global expansion
Indie game publisher Redbrickhouse said on Monday it has raised financial investment from Kakao Ventures and other investors. Participants include Devsisters Ventures, SmartStudy Ventures, MainStreet Ventures and Zion Investment. The company said it has secured financial backers after earlier attracting strategic investment from Wemade Max. Founded in June, Redbrickhouse said it supports game development, publishing and investment, and aims to help small teams strengthen global distribution capabilities.
