Superfast will commit 11.1 billion won in funding to identify next-generation indie games. It plans to use the effort to move toward becoming an intellectual property (IP)-focused cultural company.
Superfast on May 18 said it will invest a total of 11.1 billion won to revitalise the indie game ecosystem and will step up investment and publishing projects by identifying multiple indie game companies with potential.
The project goes beyond simple publishing and is part of a strategy to become a "culture tech company" that expands around game IP into various content and culture. Superfast plans to combine games, entertainment and technology so a single IP does not remain confined to games but expands into webtoons, fashion and offline spaces, creating a global content universe.
To that end, Superfast will hold its first demo day in late June and open recruitment for candidates for next-generation global hit titles across various genres and styles. The demo day is expected to be run not just as a presentation event but as a "hands-on investment platform" where investment reviews and publishing talks take place on site at the same time.
Developers selected in the final round will receive immediate investment execution and full support for core capabilities including global publishing, marketing and data-driven operations. The company also plans to provide office infrastructure at key hubs including Seongsu, Seoul Forest and Jeju, creating an environment in which creators can focus only on development without cost burdens.
Superfast CEO Kim Kang-an (김강안) said, "The key to this investment is to go beyond simple funding support, discover many raw gems with fresh ideas, and build a structure in which their IP can grow into a sustainable business." He added, "It will not end with a single fun game, and we will provide full support so it can evolve into a 'super IP' that survives in the global market."
