Wemade Max said on Monday it made a strategic investment in South Korean indie game publisher Redbrickhouse and set up a cooperation framework to discover promising developers and secure new intellectual property.

The investment was made to broaden partnerships with creative developers and lay the groundwork for long-term growth, as indie games with distinctive gameplay become more competitive in the global game market.

Redbrickhouse, the investment target, was founded by specialists who were in charge of discovering, investing in and publishing indie games at Neowiz. It provides comprehensive support ranging from game development to global services, IP expansion and additional businesses for promising developers at home and abroad. It is currently pushing projects in various genres, including roguelike shooters, co-op extraction and action-adventure.

Wemade Max plans to continue discovering game companies with creative capabilities starting with this investment. Based on this, it aims to strengthen a diversified multi-studio growth structure by genre, platform and region, and accelerate expansion of its global game portfolio.

The two companies plan to explore various ways to cooperate across the entire process, from discovering promising indie developers to publishing and global services. They plan to combine Wemade Max's in-house development and global service infrastructure with Redbrickhouse's publishing expertise to secure competitive new IP and contribute to revitalising the domestic and global indie game ecosystem.

Wemade Max CEO Son Myun-seok (손면석) said, "Wemade Max is building a sustainable growth structure based on a multi-studio system across various genres and platforms." He added, "Starting with cooperation with Redbrickhouse, we will discover new games and IP together with creative developers and continue to expand a competitive portfolio in the global market."

Redbrickhouse co-CEOs Kim Hyuk-jin (김혁진) and Hong Ji-cheol (홍지철) said, "This cooperation will become a foundation for more indie developers to steadily take on game development and challenge the global market." They added, "Based on the capabilities and experience both companies have, we will discover competitive games and actively support the global expansion of Korean indie games."
