Smilegate has started recruiting exhibition teams for the indie game festival 'Beborocks 2026' and has begun full-scale preparations for the event.

Smilegate Future Lab said on May 19 it will recruit indie game exhibition teams to take part in Beborocks 2026, to be held in December, until July 27.

Marking its fifth edition this year, the event will be expanded and held for three days from Dec. 18 to 20 at Exhibition Halls 1 and 2 of SETEC in Seoul's Gangnam district.

Any team or individual developing an indie game can apply regardless of release status or a publishing deal. Works that were submitted to previous events can also apply again, significantly lowering the barrier to participation.

Participating teams will receive extensive support aimed at practical development and promotion. Exhibition booths and devices will be provided free of charge during the event, and a report summarising user feedback will be provided to help with future game development.

Beyond a simple exhibition, the event will also emphasise exchanges among creators. It will present the 'Bever Featured' awards, selected through mutual voting by participating creators, and will also support the operation of a dedicated lounge and networking programmes. Over the past four years, Beborocks has drawn about 44,000 visitors and is growing into a global festival that has even brought participation from overseas creators.

Baek Min-jung (백민정), head of the Future Lab centre, said, "As Beborocks marks its fifth edition this year, we will move locations and prepare so that more creators and users can meet in a better space." She added, "We ask for the interest and participation of many teams making indie games with their own philosophy."
