Superfast, the holding company of mobile game developer 111 Percent, said on Tuesday it has launched Steam-focused publishing subsidiary Offmoon and will offer its first lineup of four indie games at 1,100 won each.
The release is part of Superfast's strategy to diversify its platform ecosystem into personal computers, consoles and Steam after establishing mobile hits such as "Random Dice", "Unbaeljonnmangeom" and "Hyeopta Di". The company recently set up a new development base at its Jeju office and established Offmoon as a dedicated Steam indie-game publishing entity.
The biggest feature of Offmoon's four new releases is a uniform 1,100 won pricing policy that breaks from pricing norms in the global Steam market, where games are typically priced at $5 to $20. The aim is to significantly lower entry barriers for indie games that struggle to find user touchpoints due to budget and marketing limits, encouraging users to try games without a price burden. The corporate name Offmoon also reflects an identity that "new value emerges where the familiar moon has disappeared."
The first lineup includes four titles spanning multiple genres: 3-on-3 casual action game "Chill Cat", single-player strategy dice defense game "Dealer's Dice", dark roguelike deck-building game "Helldek", and 7-player casual brawler "Who Am I Next?!: Animals".
Lee Sun-hwa (이선화), Steam label director at Offmoon, said, "There are many indie games that cannot reach users due to budget or marketing limits." She said the 1,100 won policy is not simply a low-price strategy but is intended to help more users discover hidden value in games and experience enjoyment without being constrained by price.
Offmoon plans to begin with the release of the first lineup and roll out up to 50 games sequentially through the second half of this year. It also plans to go beyond simple publishing and become a platform operator that distributes and services various PC and console titles, building a new PC game ecosystem.
