Neowiz unveils new demo for \'Hello Seoul: Itaewon Episode\', joins Steam Next Fest

Neowiz said on Monday that \'Hello Seoul: Itaewon Episode\', a narrative puzzle-adventure game being developed by Gino Games, will take part in Steam Next Fest through Oct. 27. During the event, users can play a newly improved demo on PC Steam in 10 languages including Korean, English, simplified Chinese and Japanese. The demo reflects feedback from a previously released version and beta test, expanding playable sections and adding new puzzles.

AI coding tools fuel fears of game copying in indie sector

AI coding tools are lowering barriers to game development but are also stoking concern in the indie game industry that similar titles could be copied and released before an official launch. Alliance Arts scrapped plans to distribute a demo for its new game ahead of Steam Next Fest, citing fears of rapid replication. Other developers including Lucas Pope and Freya Holmer described similar concerns after copies appeared online.

Game industry expands playtests from early development

South Korean game companies are increasingly running playtests from early in development, using player data and feedback to adjust game structure and balance and then testing again. NC Publishing’s Time Takers is set for another Steam global playtest in November after tests in March and September. Similar approaches are being used for Line Games’ Code Exit and Krafton-published Project Zeta. Valve will hold Steam Next Fest from Oct. 20 to 27.
