Singapore bank OCBC has launched GOLDX, a tokenised gold fund issued on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains. OCBC issued the underlying token with asset management affiliate Lion Global Investors and digital asset exchange DigiFT. The product targets institutional investors, hedge funds and asset managers, and allows trading in stablecoins and fiat currencies, with tokens delivered to investors’ blockchain wallets after subscription. OCBC said assets under management were about $525 million as of April 16.

Korean financial companies see digital assets as next-generation financial infrastructure but say regulatory overhaul is urgent for full-scale entry. At CIS2026 in Seoul, institutional investors cited regulatory gaps and shortcomings in custody, compliance and risk management as barriers. Executives said clearer rules are needed on eligible assets, market standards and responsibility in case of incidents. Panelists also pointed to tokenised securities, real-world assets and the spread of dollar-based stablecoins as key issues.
