Meritz Securities is joining hands with global blockchain company Ripple to review the feasibility of applying digital asset custody and tokenisation infrastructure to South Korea’s capital market.

Meritz Securities said on Tuesday it signed a strategic partnership with Ripple, a blockchain-based global financial infrastructure company, to support the introduction of digital assets in the domestic market.

Under the partnership, the companies will review ways to apply to South Korea’s capital market Ripple’s tokenisation infrastructure provided to global financial institutions and its institutional digital asset custody solution, Ripple Custody.

Actual business 추진 will be pursued with plans to expand areas of cooperation in stages in line with future changes to domestic digital asset-related regulations.

Meritz Securities is preparing related businesses in response to moves to bring digital assets into the regulated system.

It is reviewing a range of business possibilities including spot digital asset exchange-traded funds (ETFs), fractional investment and token securities, trading platforms and won-based stablecoins. The partnership with Ripple is part of that strategy.

Ripple Custody, one of Ripple’s services launched by the company founded in 2012, is an institutional custody solution that helps financial institutions store and manage digital assets.

A Meritz Securities official said the partnership laid the groundwork to jointly use global digital asset infrastructure and the company’s capital market capabilities. The official said it would prepare safe and reliable digital asset financial services in line with domestic regulatory changes.
