Dunamu has expanded its teen financial education programme through a quiz competition and local community donations.
Dunamu, which operates digital asset exchange Upbit, said on Oct. 26 that it has wrapped up its teen financial education programme, the Upclass Junior Cup quiz competition, and provided snack trucks to top schools. It also plans to carry out local community donations.
Upclass Junior is part of Upbit's tailored-by-generation financial education programme, Upclass. Launched in May 2022, it provides education to a nationwide cumulative total of 214 schools and 41,854 students through the end of this year.
The curriculum covers principles of stocks and digital assets, investment risk management and rational asset allocation. It also supports exploration of future jobs and career paths by incorporating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain.
The first Upclass Junior Cup quiz competition, held for the first time this year, was designed to help students who took part in the programme in the first semester review finance and economics knowledge.
It ran for about 7 weeks from May 18 to July 3, with 2,603 students participating from 58 schools nationwide.
Dunamu selected top schools in 4 categories based on overall assessment of each school's average score, number of participants and participation rate.
Incheon Jeonggak Middle School won the Brain Class Award for ranking first in the nationwide combined average score. Geoseong Middle School was selected for the Passion Class Award for ranking first in total participants. Naechon Middle School ranked first in participation rate in the Seoul metropolitan area, while Yeonggwang Yeomsan Middle School ranked first outside the metropolitan area.
Dunamu visited the 4 winning schools and provided snack trucks for all students. At Naechon Middle School, students from a nearby elementary school also took part at the school's request.
The programme also links to local community donations. Dunamu set aside a total of 12 million won in donations, giving 3 million won per school in the name of each winning school.
Dunamu Chief Executive O Kyung-seok (오경석) said, "We will continue to expand education for future generations and social contribution so that financial education can lead to voluntary participation and the realisation of social value."
