Dunamu, which operates digital asset exchange Upbit, will discuss ways to institutionalise digital assets and expand institutional participation with global policy, finance and industry officials.

Dunamu said on Sept. 22 it will hold the Upbit Institutional Summit (UIS) on Sept. 29 at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul in Seoul’s Gwangjin district.

UIS is an event attended by global policymakers, institutional investors, financial companies and officials from digital asset and technology firms. It is held for pre-invited guests. Dunamu plans to use this event as a starting point to continue UIS as a forum to discuss major changes and the future of digital finance.

This year’s UIS will feature speakers including current and former officials from policy and regulatory bodies in major countries in the United States, Europe and Asia, as well as figures from the global finance and digital asset industries.

Attendees include Brian Quintenz (브라이언 퀸텐츠), former commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Harry Jung (해리 정), former deputy director of the White House Presidential Digital Asset Advisory Committee, Caroline Pham (캐롤라인 팜), MoonPay chief legal officer and chief administrative officer, and Peter Kerstens (피터 커스텐스), an adviser on fintech and cybersecurity at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA).

Participants also include Sunaina Tuteja (수나이나 투테자), non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, Johann Kerbrat (요한 케르브라트), senior vice president and general manager for Robinhood Crypto and global business, Sheila Warren (실라 워렌), chair of the Advanced AI Society, Trevor Traina (트레버 트레이나), chief business officer at Tools for Humanity, and Will Papper (윌 패퍼), head of agent payments products at Cloudflare.

The event will begin with opening remarks by Dunamu CEO Kyung-seok Oh (오경석). Key topics include global digital asset regulation and changes in market structure, tokenisation and new asset distribution structures, institutional participation in digital asset markets, regulation in major Asian countries, finance’s shift on-chain, and the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.

It will cover not only U.S. digital asset market structure and policy changes but also institutionalisation and institutional participation in Europe, and regulatory environments in major Asian countries.

A discussion will also be held on the on-chain transition of South Korea’s financial industry. Jong-seop Lee (이종섭), a professor at Seoul National University’s business school, will moderate. Participants include Won-seok Choi (최원석), Dunamu’s chief global business officer, Tae-sung Eom (엄태성), managing director at Hana Financial Group and head of Hana Bank’s AI Digital Innovation Group, In-sung Ahn (안인성), vice president at Hanwha Investment & Securities and head of the Digital Innovation Division, and Sung-won Hwang (황성원), CDPO at Samsung Financial Networks.

Participants will discuss changes at traditional financial firms such as banks and securities companies, and the potential use of on-chain finance that processes financial assets and transactions using blockchain.

From Sept. 30, the day after UIS, to Oct. 1, the main conference of Korea Blockchain Week 2026 (KBW 2026) will be held. Dunamu will take part as a presenting partner of KBW 2026.

Oh said UIS is an event to share experience and perspectives at a time when the global digital asset market is facing important changes, including institutionalisation and expanding institutional participation. He said he hopes in-depth discussions will help connect South Korea’s and global digital asset markets.
