GM, LG Energy Solution achieve 100 percent mineral recycling from end-of-life EV batteries

General Motors has succeeded in recycling key minerals recovered from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries into new battery cells, and the batteries have been installed in EVs for sale. GM completed a closed-loop recycling pilot that reintroduced nickel, cobalt and manganese extracted from used batteries. Working with Cirba Solutions, it processed 80 batteries into black mass and produced more than 12 tons of cathode active material using only recycled minerals.

Lotte brings mobility value chain to Japan, from materials to logistics under one roof

Lotte said on Oct. 12 it will take part in Japan Mobility Show Bizweek 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Six affiliates will join, including Lotte Chemical and Lotte Global Logistics. The group plans to present its mobility business spanning next-generation materials, AI and autonomous driving, and smart logistics. Lotte will set up an L.MoVE-themed booth to display its value chain from materials to infrastructure, logistics and services.

European car and battery industries put \'made in Europe\' to the test

Europe\'s car industry has again called for an additional delay to electric vehicle battery rules of origin, putting confidence in Europe\'s industrial policy under scrutiny. T&E, Eurometaux and Cefic urged the EU executive to apply the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement rules as scheduled. The rules link tariff-free access to the British market to use of European-made batteries and cathode materials. Battery and materials groups say capacity will exceed required demand and want purchases, not delays.
