Colorado makes automakers responsible for EV waste batteries, bans landfilling from 2029

Colorado will put responsibility for collecting and processing waste electric vehicle batteries on automakers, aiming to institutionalise a recycling system as EV adoption increases. Under the SB26-003 bill signed in June, manufacturers must retrieve batteries that have reached the end of their life or are no longer used by owners and manage collection, reuse, recycling and disposal. The state will also phase out landfilling, banning landfills from accepting EV batteries from July 2029.

Uber buys Delivery Hero, Tesla\'s first bicycle has unexpected identity

Uber will acquire German delivery platform Delivery Hero for about $14.8 billion, bringing Woowa Brothers, operator of Baedal Minjok, under Uber. Kakao Mobility and the Korea Expressway Corp will launch a service linking real-time highway accident information to private navigation apps and said Kakao Mobility has received ISO 45001 certification. Tesla unveiled a balance bike for children aged 2 to 5 and is offering financing incentives and resale value guarantees.

Japan to invest 100 trillion won in physical AI through 2040, make humanoid robots national strategy

The Japanese government has announced a large-scale investment plan to spend a total 10.5 trillion yen, about 100 trillion won, by 2040 to foster the physical AI industry. It aims to promote humanoid robots and automation as a national growth strategy to respond to labour shortages driven by low birth rates and population ageing. The investment will target 17 strategic industries designated by the government and expand R&D into a state-led programme.
