Kakao Mobility and the Korea Expressway Corp will begin a service linking real-time highway accident information with private navigation apps. The Korea Expressway Corp said it will provide the "National Traffic Safety Connection Service" jointly with Kakao Navi from the 24th. The measure comes ahead of the special traffic management period for the summer holiday season, from July 25 to Aug. 10.

The company also said it has obtained ISO 45001 certification, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, from the British Standards Institution (BSI). ISO 45001 is a standard for industrial safety and health management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is granted to companies with an occupational health and safety management system that systematically manages workplace risk factors and prevents industrial accidents.

Kakao Mobility said the certification recognises that it has systematised occupational health and safety management procedures across various areas, from platform service operations to offline sites.

As growth in the electric-vehicle market slows, global automakers are moving to scale back their lineups. Major automakers such as Honda, Tesla and Volkswagen have decided to halt production or discontinue electric vehicles in the U.S. market, in a climate of trimming back models that had once been expanded aggressively.

Honda has decided to discontinue even the Prologue, which ranked sixth in U.S. electric-vehicle sales, while Volkswagen is pushing a plan to cut its overall lineup by half. As Audi and Porsche electric vehicles are also on the list for streamlining, analysis says automakers have entered a phase of "selection and concentration" that prioritises profitability and sales efficiency over expanding scale.
