Postmen to deliver essential goods to help close welfare blind spots

Korea’s Postal Service and the Health and Welfare Ministry agreed on Oct. 29 to launch “Just Dream Delivered by Postmen,” under which postmen will deliver food and daily necessities to selected vulnerable households and check on their wellbeing. The programme supports people struggling to make a living with 20,000 won worth of goods per person, without separate proof or complex applications, but some have faced access limits. A pilot will start in 10 districts.

Hana Financial Group held a job fair in Incheon to support re-employment for mid-career job seekers, with 20 local small but strong companies taking part. The event offered one-on-one on-site interviews and programs to help participants gain digital work experience and prepare for job searches. It also provided AI-based assistance such as resume writing and mock interviews, along with retirement-related financial counselling.

South Korea science ministry holds Global ICT Leadership Forum to seek AI cooperation

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT discussed cooperation in AI and digital fields with senior overseas delegations. The ministry held the 12th Global ICT Leadership Forum with the National Information Society Agency at a hotel in Seoul. Delegations from eight countries including Vietnam, the Philippines and Egypt attended, along with about 100 people from related organisations and AI companies. Vice Minister Ryu Je-myeong said countries should build a global digital order suited to the AI era.
