Brokerage bonds draw strong demand, topping 4 trillion won on results improvement and rate appeal

Institutional money is flowing into South Korean securities firms’ corporate bonds despite rising market rates, supported by improved earnings and the appeal of higher interest income. Daishin Securities, Hana Securities and DB Financial Investment drew 4.265 trillion won of orders for 600 billion won of issuance, about 7.1 times. Pricing came in below bond valuation benchmarks. Analysts cite better brokerage results, reduced non-financial corporate bond supply and demand buildup.

Korean brokerages step up tokenised securities business beyond fractional investing to bonds, funds

Korean brokerages are expanding tokenised securities businesses from account management for fractional investing to issuance infrastructure for bonds, funds and other financial products. The Financial Services Commission said it will pursue phased tokenisation of stocks, bonds and funds, starting in February 2027 with private money market funds, private corporate bonds, unlisted shares using trusts and publicly offered fractional investment securities. Firms are building joint platforms and proprietary systems, while overseas examples are also growing.

South Korean stocks are expected to take cues this week from U.S. inflation data ahead of the September FOMC meeting. Strong semiconductor earnings and surging exports are supporting the downside, but elevated U.S. long-term yields and Middle East tensions are limiting upside momentum. Markets are watching U.S. producer prices on Sept. 10 and consumer prices on Sept. 11 after stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs data lifted yield and rate-hike expectations.
