Japan unveils ambulance dedicated to repairing humanoid robots

A dedicated vehicle to diagnose and repair broken humanoid robots on site has appeared in Japan. GMO AI & Robotics Trading Co (GMO AIR) unveiled the “GMO Humanoid Ambulance” and said it is Japan’s first dedicated vehicle for humanoid maintenance. The company plans to dispatch it with engineers, parts and diagnostic tools, and offer replacement robots through a 70,000 yen-a-month subscription when repairs take a long time.

Arm unveils new products to unify phones, robots and servers

Arm is accelerating efforts to tie smartphones, robots and data centres into a single computing platform. At a Sept. 7 media briefing, it unveiled an AI computing portfolio that includes CSS for Mobile 2, Arm Total Design for Physical AI and the Neoverse CSS-N4 for data centres. Arm said agentic AI is driving higher CPU loads. It also outlined performance gains in its C2 CPU cluster and Mali G2 GPUs, and gave projections for physical AI and data centre adoption.

Nvidia steps up physical AI push in robots and cars, works closely with Chinese companies

Nvidia is expanding beyond AI training chips into physical AI for robots, cars and drones, with the business reaching $10 billion in annual revenue, the Wall Street Journal reported. CEO Jensen Huang said the segment could grow tenfold within 10 years. The company is bundling chips and developer software and distributing open-weight models. U.S. curbs block high-end AI chip sales to China, but robot and auto chips remain allowed, with China seen as key.
