Bitcoin pauses as Middle East tensions lift oil; CLARITY bill, FOMC to set direction
Bitcoin rebounded to around $65,700 but struggled to extend gains as international oil prices and U.S. Treasury yields rose. Markets are watching next week’s U.S. congressional debate on the CLARITY bill and the Federal Open Market Committee meeting as key drivers of near-term direction. Expectations over the bill’s ethics provisions initially lifted prices, but momentum faded amid worsening U.S.-Iran tensions and profit-taking. The Fed’s signals on potential further rate hikes are also in focus.

Korea stocks outlook: KOSPI loses momentum as FOMC, chipmakers and Big Tech earnings in focus
South Korean stocks are expected to seek direction this week as investors watch the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee and earnings from domestic semiconductor firms and U.S. Big Tech. The KOSPI and Kosdaq posted sharp losses as risk aversion rose amid Middle East tensions, higher oil prices and rising U.S. Treasury yields. Analysts said profit forecasts have not deteriorated materially, and chip and AI-related guidance, foreign flows and Fed policy signals will be key drivers.

Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta urge restraint on hasty regulation of open-weight models
More than 20 U.S. tech companies including Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta and Palantir urged policymakers to refrain from rushing regulation of open-weight artificial intelligence models. In a joint letter, they said early restrictions could curb competition and drive innovation overseas. Open-weight models can be downloaded, modified and run on users’ own infrastructure. The companies said open-weight models broaden competition and limit concentration of benefits, and argued closed models are not inherently safer.
