Why Apple jumped into foldable phones with iPhone Duo

Apple has unveiled its foldable iPhone Duo, its biggest design change in iPhone history, despite foldables remaining a niche category. The device is set for an October launch at $1,999, above Samsung Electronics’ $1,900 Galaxy foldable. A New York Times report said foldables could help Apple reinforce its position in the premium market by offering differentiation. IDC expects overall smartphone shipments to fall 17 percent this year, while foldables rise 12 percent to 22.9 million units.

Broadcast Media Communications Commission unveils AI production cases used for action scenes, subtitles and audio description

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission held a seminar in Seoul on Thursday with the Korea Radio Promotion Association to share AI use in broadcasting production and services. Speakers presented an AI-made action sequence for an SBS drama and generative AI use in an MBC variety show. Broadcasters also introduced AI subtitles and audio description for sports coverage, AI voice for radio news, and automation tools for video editing and graphics work.

Panasonic Korea launches Epredia cancer diagnosis pathology solutions in South Korea

Panasonic Korea said on Sept. 7 it will introduce Epredia anatomical pathology solutions for cancer diagnosis in South Korea. Epredia is a subsidiary of Japan-based healthcare company PHC Holdings Corporation and provides precision cancer diagnostic solutions. PHC Holdings Corporation spun off from Panasonic Healthcare and became independent in 2014. Epredia offers products covering pathology workflows, and Panasonic Korea plans to supply them to domestic pathology and research customers.
