Honda, Tesla and Volkswagen join EV discontinuation rush in U.S.

Honda has officially confirmed it will end production of the Prologue, its last all-electric model sold in the United States. The move comes as the U.S. EV market faces slowing growth and policy changes, prompting major automakers to scale back EV lineups. Second-quarter U.S. EV sales totalled 247,226 vehicles, or 5.8 percent of new-vehicle sales, data showed. Other automakers have also halted or reduced EV models.

A Tesla Model S Plaid Signature Edition has been listed on the U.S. used market for $259,995, more than $100,000 above its new-car price. The vehicle, registered in New Jersey with 300 miles, is one of Tesla’s last limited editions ahead of ending Model S production. The listing highlights a no-resale agreement and uncertainty over whether key benefits such as FSD and free lifetime Supercharging transfer to a new owner.
