[DigitalToday reporter Choi Jae-won] An estimate suggests Tesla’s Cybertruck deliveries in the third quarter this year amounted to only about 7,000 to 8,000 units. It is an improvement from a year earlier, but still far short of the large-scale production targets previously presented.

Electrek reported on Oct. 7 (local time) that Tesla delivered 8,295 “other models” in the third quarter. That was down 48 percent from 15,933 a year earlier and the lowest level since 2021. Production also fell 40 percent to 7,004 units from 11,624 a year earlier.

Tesla does not disclose Cybertruck sales separately. With Model S and Model X production ending in April, “other models” are estimated to include the Cybertruck, Semi and remaining Model S and Model X units. The outlet analysed that excluding remaining Model S and Model X units and the Semi, which is still in the early stage of mass production, Cybertruck deliveries in the third quarter were likely about 7,000 to 8,000 units. This is not a figure confirmed by Tesla.

A variable is the Cybercab. Tesla began producing the Cybercab at its Texas plant in the second quarter but did not disclose how it reflects its in-house robotaxi vehicles in production and delivery statistics. As a result, the 7,004 “other models” produced cannot be viewed as Cybertruck production.

Assuming 8,000 Cybertrucks were sold, that would be about 32,000 on an annualised basis. That is about 13 percent of the previously cited plan of 250,000 a year, and about one quarter of Tesla’s disclosed annual installed production capacity of more than 125,000. Tesla has specified, however, that installed production capacity does not mean actual output.

The Cybertruck, meanwhile, remains near the top of the U.S. electric pickup market. But if Semi production ramps up in earnest, it is expected to become more difficult to estimate Cybertruck sales using only the “other models” figure.
