Korea semiconductors set to accelerate Q2 export momentum as supplementary budget kicks in

South Korea\'s semiconductor exports, which lifted quarterly GDP growth in the first quarter, are expected to gain further momentum in the second quarter as execution of a supplementary budget begins, Hana Securities said. It said rising semiconductor export prices are outpacing the recovery in volumes, raising the chance of a combined rebound in facility investment and domestic demand. It also cited sharp gains in memory chip contract prices and stronger April export values.

DDR4 memory prices fall for first time in a year; 16GB chip down 5 percent in a month

DDR4 memory prices have fallen for the first time in about a year, with spot prices for 16GB DDR4 chips down about 5 percent over the past month, TechRadar reported. The decline marks the first confirmed monthly drop, though prices remain high after a 2,200 percent rise in 16GB DDR4 module prices over the past year. South Korea is considering measures to ease PC price burdens, while DDR5 prices have also fallen in some cases.

GPU rental rates jump 40 percent in six months as HBM, DRAM shortages deepen

Nvidia’s H100 GPU rental prices have jumped 40 percent in six months, with supply for new deployments already sold out and on-demand capacity exhausted, SemiAnalysis said. Surging demand is lifting AI server component costs and tightening supplies of high-bandwidth memory and DRAM. DS Investment & Securities said memory contract prices are likely to keep rising through the fourth quarter, while long-term supply deals may support margins for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
