Binance aims for \'legal return\' to Philippine market two years after exit

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance, previously blocked in the Philippines, has partnered with Philippine fintech firm BlockShares Technologies to renew its push into Southeast Asia’s crypto market. The arrangement has BlockShares, an SEC-approved crypto asset intermediary, join the SEC’s Strattbox sandbox, while Binance provides technology, security systems and compliance experience. BlockShares received in-principle approval under an SEC circular in November 2025. Sandbox testing starts in the second half of 2026 and runs at least two years.

Anthropic appoints Ki-young Choi as Korea head to target market with tailored strategy

U.S. AI research and development company Anthropic said on Tuesday it has appointed Ki-young Choi as its Korea head ahead of the opening of its Seoul office. Senior executives plan to visit Seoul in the coming weeks to formally establish the office and meet key customers. Anthropic said a March Economic Index report showed Claude usage in South Korea exceeded expectations by 3.5 times relative to population, with active use in technology and creative fields.

KISA researcher Choi Hyun-ah elected to UN Internet Governance Forum advisory body

Choi Hyun-ah (최현아), a senior researcher at the Korea Internet & Security Agency, was elected to the Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum. The forum is an annual UN conference launched in 2006 that brings together governments, the private sector, civil society and international organisations to discuss internet development and global public policy issues. Choi will take part in agenda and programme planning for the 21st meeting in Kenya in December.
