LG CNS said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese telecommunications company KDDI to expand AI transformation (AX) and digital transformation (DX) business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The companies will combine LG CNS's AX and DX capabilities with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure and global network to pursue joint business in areas including AI, smart cities, telecommunications and systems integration operations management.

In AI, they will explore developing customised services for local companies using LG CNS's agentic AI platform, AgenticWorks. They will also review cooperation on robot integrated management services for manufacturing, logistics and distribution sites based on the physical AI platform PhysicalWorks.

In smart cities, they plan to target the Southeast Asian market by combining KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure technology with LG CNS solutions such as its city integrated control system and intelligent transport system.

The companies will form a working-level consultative body and will select Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and China as priority business regions to identify new businesses.

Park Sang-gyun (박상균), head of LG CNS's Telecommunications, Distribution and Services Business Division, said, "We will create tangible results in global AX business together with KDDI."
