Cognitive-function startup Beluga plans to expand into digital therapeutics based on its brain-training game \'Today\'s Walnut\'. The company aims to analyse behaviour data generated during gameplay to assess users\' cognitive status and, over time, develop a digital therapeutic device for mild cognitive impairment. Beluga is jointly researching core AI models for a cognitive profiling platform with Kakao Games. It is also preparing a senior-focused version, an English release next year and longer-term work toward a 2028 digital therapeutic device.

The German government is pushing a plan to scrap the current system under which gains from selling cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin are generally tax-free if held for more than 1 year. A draft law from the Federal Ministry of Finance would impose a flat 25 percent tax on gains regardless of holding period, applying to crypto assets acquired after Jan. 1, 2027. Transitional measures would preserve the existing rule for assets acquired by Dec. 31 this year.
