Korea Exchange holds briefing on pre- and after-market launch

Korea Exchange said on Jan. 26 it will hold a briefing in Seoul for officials from all member firms. It plans to share details on institutional improvements and IT development for the introduction of pre- and after-market sessions and hold a question-and-answer session. The bourse has announced it will introduce pre-market and after-market trading from June, extending daily trading hours to 12. A finance union and some member firms oppose the plan.

Sh Suhyup Bank named excellent company in fishery, rural ESG practice recognition programme

Sh Suhyup Bank said on Jan. 26 it won the Co-Growth Commission chair’s award and a fishery and rural ESG practice recognition plaque at the Fishery and Rural ESG Awards ceremony hosted by the Large and Small Business and Agriculture and Fisheries Cooperation Foundation. About 230 people attended, including representatives of companies and institutions. The bank said it was recognised for contributions to fishery and rural ESG practices and shared growth, and received the chair’s award for a second straight year.

Shinhan Bank wins 2025 Sustainable Finance Award by Japan Institute for Environmental Finance

Shinhan Bank said on Jan. 26 it was selected as the global category winner at the 2025 Sustainable Finance Awards hosted by the Japan Institute for Environmental Finance. The awards began in 2015 and are in their 11th edition. The bank said it was recognised for issuing the first transition bond in Japan’s samurai bond market and for systematically advancing transition finance. It also cited a 40 billion yen samurai transition bond issue in November.
