Bike rack maker Allen has launched the loop-mounted Smart Suction Go, a bike rack that lets users check suction pressure in real time on a smartphone.
BikeRumor, a mobility-focused outlet, reported on March 31 that the new product keeps the core functions of the Smart Suction Bike Rack while simplifying the structure to improve portability and price competitiveness at the same time.
The key feature is using technology to address the anxiety associated with suction mounting. Sensors built into the suction cups detect pressure and transmit it to a smartphone via Bluetooth, providing a warning if the hold weakens. Chief Executive Alex Allen (알렉스 알렌) said, "Drivers want a clear signal that the suction is fully secured." He added, "This real-time monitoring feature helps build user trust."
The structural design also differs from earlier versions. While the previous model was connected as a single frame, Smart Suction Go adopts a two-piece structure with separate front and rear sections. The front section has a fork mount and 3 large suction cups, while the rear section secures the back wheel and attaches to the vehicle with 1 suction cup. The design significantly reduces bulk when not in use, and a handle was added to the rear section to make it easier to move and store.
It can be attached and detached easily by suction without tools. It is designed to be installed not only on a vehicle roof but also in various locations such as rear glass or a van's rear door. App pairing is carried out after installation and continuously monitors suction pressure. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing users to check status on the vehicle display.
The bike is secured using a fork-mount system. It supports various standards from 9×100 mm quick release to 12×100 mm, 15×110 mm and 15×100 mm thru-axles. A separate rear-wheel fixing structure broadens compatibility for wheelbase and tire width. The allowable bike weight is limited to about 35 pounds, or about 16 kg, or less.
It is priced at about $299, or about 450,000 won, and is currently available for purchase. Smart Suction Go is seen as a product that aims to improve safety and ease of use through sensor-based monitoring and a compact structure while keeping the convenience of a suction-mounted roof rack.
