Nvidia defies big tech hiring slowdown as AI pay levels draw attention

Nvidia is expanding foreign talent recruitment in the United States after receiving about 1,200 H-1B job certifications in the first half of fiscal 2026. This comes as parts of the U.S. tech industry slow foreign hiring amid tighter immigration rules and reduced H-1B sponsorship. Federal filings show high base salaries across roles, including engineers, researchers and directors. The figures exclude stock options and bonuses, but highlight Nvidia’s broad hiring across hardware, software and customer-facing roles.
