A Wall Street analyst said Tesla\'s Full Self-Driving software has effectively reached Level 4 autonomy in most conditions. Piper Sandler\'s Alexander Potter cited Tesla\'s lower insurance premiums for heavy FSD users, preparations for a robotaxi business and disclosure of FSD subscriber numbers. AI startups need markets, not technology; government should be first customer
Industry participants at the AXIS 2026 conference in Seoul said AI startups lack markets and first customers rather than ideas or technology, and urged the government to play an early-market role. Korea Startup Forum Chairman Jae-won Kim (김재원) said Korea has the layers needed for an AI powerhouse but needs the government to act as a customer. Companies cited public demand, regulation and domains such as defence and disaster response. Officials and lawmakers voiced support for first-use and purchase projects.

South Korea launches push to localise \'world model\' core physical AI tech
South Korea is launching a project to develop domestic core technologies for physical artificial intelligence, including high-performance world models and homegrown simulators. The Ministry of Science and ICT and IITP held a kickoff briefing in Seoul on June 9. The programme will link world models, robot foundation models and simulator technology into a single demonstration system. The ministry will invest 34 billion won over two years and targets a 20 percentage-point improvement in robots’ final task success rates.
