Apple\'s everyday AI features could matter more than Siri
Apple unveiled its next-generation Siri AI at WWDC and applied AI widely to frequently used features such as Safari, Shortcuts, the Photos app, AirPods and parental controls. Some in the industry say these everyday AI additions could feel more useful to users than a conversational Siri. TechRadar on June 29 highlighted five smaller changes that drew attention, including automatic tab grouping, natural-language Shortcuts creation, improved photo editing, personalised equaliser settings and stronger child safety tools.

Memory-led price rises to lift IT device costs up to 40 percent
Rising memory prices are expected to push up costs for IT devices such as smartphones, PCs, TVs and tablets by at least 15 to 40 percent, with increases spreading to finished-device prices. Spot memory indicators have jumped in recent weeks, and some products have posted sharp gains. Analysts say this year differs from prior cycles as AI data centres and high-bandwidth memory draw production capacity, structurally tightening supply of general-purpose memory.

Anthropic\'s Claude Fable 5 hit by U.S. export controls, adding uncertainty to global AI landscape
Anthropic faced U.S. export controls over insufficient safety measures soon after releasing its new Mythos-based AI model Claude Fable 5. The curbs block overseas access to Mythos 5 and Fable 5 except for U.S. nationals, triggering a strong backlash and potentially complicating Anthropic’s IPO push if prolonged. The move has heightened interest in sovereign and open-source AI models and intensified discussion of AI and geopolitics, while drawing attention to how Washington will respond to OpenAI’s next model.
