Apple will launch a next-generation Siri voice AI assistant in September, aiming to offer a higher-level, more personalised conversation experience.

Apple will also use Google Cloud servers and Nvidia chips for the next-generation Siri, The Information reported on Tuesday.

Apple plans to handle as many functions as possible on devices such as iPhones, while running some functions requiring greater computing power on Google Cloud when deploying Siri, the report said.

It is known to use Nvidia Blackwell B200 data centre chips on Google Cloud.

Apple will also apply Nvidia confidential computing, which encrypts data while it is processed on chips. The Information said this is to maintain Apple’s security and privacy standards while processing customer data on external cloud servers.

Apple’s move on Siri departs from its strategy of directly controlling technologies that play a core role in its products.

Apple announced a Mac-series chip-based server system, Private Cloud Compute, 2 years ago and presented a safer cloud computing approach, but Gemini for the next-generation Siri was too slow to run on its own server system, The Information said.

Apple plans to unveil the new Siri at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference next week.
