China\'s AI market share surges, accelerating reset of global AI landscape
China\'s AI companies are rapidly expanding global market share with low-cost open-source models that users can download and modify, as the United States regulates access to high-performance models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Some Chinese systems are assessed as comparable to Anthropic\'s top model in certain cybersecurity scenarios. The U.S. is easing some export bans but maintains a national export-control stance. Companies globally are rolling out new AI chips, tools and systems, while demand grows for cost-efficient AI use.

U.S. Commerce Department allows limited access to Anthropic Mythos5, Fable5 still restricted
The U.S. Commerce Department has partially eased restrictions on Anthropic’s AI model Mythos5, Axios reported on June 27. Axios cited a June 26 letter from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to Anthropic. It said certain entities and foreign employees no longer need licenses, while export controls remain for others. Restrictions on Fable5 were unchanged.

U.S. claims ASML EUV tools in China; ASML denies any sales
The U.S. government has raised the possibility that ASML’s extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment may have been brought into China. ASML rejected the claim, saying EUV tools have never been in China. The dispute intensified after U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick conveyed concerns to ASML executives. U.S. officials say they have indications parts and transport gear went to China, but have not shown evidence of a complete EUV system there.
