StealCut, an artificial intelligence security company that blocks and detects deepfake creation, said on Monday it raised seed funding from Mashup Ventures.
StealCut operates StealCut Protect, which blocks deepfake compositing in advance, and StealCut Detect, which finds AI-generated or manipulated images and videos.
The company said it is in talks to provide services to domestic broadcasters and large law firms.
StealCut has filed five patents in South Korea, the United States and Europe. It also won the SelectUSA Tech World Pitching Competition, hosted by the U.S. Commerce Department, in May.
StealCut CEO Jung-hoon Lee (이정훈) said deepfake abuse is rising quickly as generative tools become widespread, but most response technologies remain focused on finding what has already been made. He said the company has confirmed performance for both proactive defense and detection in commercial environments and has secured stable funding for further development, and will focus on expanding customers at home and abroad.
Mashup Ventures Vice President Eun-woo Park (박은우) said demand to verify the authenticity of content is increasing quickly as AI-related regulations in major countries take effect in 2026. He said the firm believes deepfake prevention processing could in the long term become a basic specification for digital images, and it highly evaluated the market outlook and the team’s ability to realize it.
