SKT to run voice phishing prevention campaign with FSS, upgrade AI detection
SK Telecom will work with South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service on a voice phishing prevention campaign combining AI and telecommunications technology with the watchdog’s expertise. The company is running an experience booth for spectators at SK Knights home games and will hold training for customer service staff at SKT Tower. It also plans security education in Hapcheon County in November and will strengthen spam filtering using verified numbers provided by the FSS.

Douzone Bizon holds AI makerthon for civil servants to spread public-sector AX
Douzone Bizon said on Oct. 13 it held a nationwide makerthon for civil servants with the National Information Society Agency and web-based coding platform firm Replit. The event, held in Seoul on Oct. 12, was part of an AI champion training programme overseen by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and run by NIA. Participants built services using public data and AI, with awards given to projects including tax guidance and flood-risk reporting apps.

LG Electronics Q3 operating profit 781.8 billion won, up 13.5 percent
LG Electronics said on Tuesday its provisional third-quarter operating profit rose 13.5 percent from a year earlier to 781.8 billion won, while revenue increased 8.9 percent to 23.827 trillion won. It said third-quarter cumulative revenue topped 70 trillion won for the first time at 71.381 trillion won, and cumulative operating profit rose 55.9 percent to above 4 trillion won. The company cited growth in the global south and B2B businesses.
