Woori Financial Group's Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation will support the restoration of study spaces for 30 households of children and teenagers in the Geoje area of South Gyeongsang Province who were damaged by heavy rain. It is adding emergency support for flood-hit families to an existing programme and will provide improved learning environments to about 200 children and teenagers this year.

The foundation said on Sept. 13 it will expand support through its "Woori Dream Study Room" programme to help children and teenagers in Geoje recover their daily lives and rebuild learning environments after the recent heavy rain.

Separate from its existing programme, it will launch emergency support for flood-hit families in Geoje. The support targets children and teenagers aged 8 to 19 and includes repairs to wallpaper and flooring in flooded study spaces, along with study furniture such as desks, bookcases and chairs.

The additional support will cover about 30 households. Including this, the number of children and teenagers receiving study furniture and space improvements through the Woori Dream Study Room programme will rise to about 200 this year.

Ji-hyun Lee (이지현), deputy general manager at the Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation, said, "We will swiftly push ahead with the support needed so that children can recover their daily lives and continue their studies."
