Infineon aims to reshape automotive chip ecosystem with RISC-V

Infineon Technologies is restructuring its automotive microcontroller business around a RISC-V-based MCU lineup, moving away from ARM-based designs. The company said adopting an open standard instruction set will strengthen OEM-led development and reduce supply-chain dependence risks. It unveiled a new AURIX RISC-V roadmap in Seoul, spanning entry-level to high-performance applications, alongside existing AURIX TC, TRAVEO and PSOC portfolios. Executives highlighted modular ISA benefits, safety and security, scalability, virtual prototyping and partnerships to speed customers’ time to market.

LG Energy Solution steps up battery software business for SDV era

LG Energy Solution is stepping up its battery software business ahead of the shift to software-defined vehicles, it said on Thursday. The company said it joined SDVerse, a vehicle software B2B platform led by GM, Canada’s Magna International and Wipro, becoming the first battery maker on the marketplace. LG Energy Solution introduced five software solutions, including battery platform software and tools for safety diagnostics and battery-state diagnosis and prediction.

South Korea selects 52 national AI projects, government to provide 3,000 GPUs

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT approved a plan to select national artificial intelligence projects and provide government graphics processing unit resources. The programme links projects across ministries to drive nationwide AI innovation. Of 10,000 advanced GPUs secured in a 2025 supplementary budget, about 3,000 will be allocated to the selected projects. A total of 52 tasks from 25 agencies were chosen from 121 submissions by 28 agencies.
