Naver Cloud said on July 20 it will work with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering to build a cloud tailored to the shipbuilding industry.
The companies plan to jointly build an AI and cloud environment optimized for HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s design and production operations. Based on that, they plan to push AI transformation (AX) across the shipbuilding industry, from a next-generation ship platform (SDV) to physical AI.
They also plan to jointly identify and expand AI use models tailored to the shipbuilding industry to create new cases of AI innovation in manufacturing.
To that end, the partners will build GPU infrastructure optimization and a private cloud operating environment based on an AI factory. On that basis, they plan to lay the groundwork for AI use at the HD Hyundai group level and to push internalization of AI and cloud operating capabilities through the formation of a joint CoE (Center of Excellence) organization.
Yoo-won Kim (김유원), CEO of Naver Cloud, said, "As shipbuilding faces a huge change in the form of global AI transformation, it is most important to build an AI foundation optimized for shipbuilding." He said, "Together with HD Hyundai, we will build a cloud environment tailored to the shipbuilding industry and, further, create an AI innovation model that can be expanded across other industries."
