Red Hat unveils Red Hat AI 3.5, strengthens security validation and GPU multitenancy

Red Hat introduced its new AI platform version, Red Hat AI 3.5, on Wednesday. The company said the release focuses on pre-deployment security validation, multitenancy for shared GPU infrastructure and improved observability, while also enhancing agent development. It launched EvalHub to assess models, RAG configurations and agents before deployment and generate compliance outputs. The model catalog adds more than 20 validated models and new scoring. Red Hat also highlighted new scheduling features and AutoRAG and Responses API updates.

Salesforce in talks to buy ListenLabs for $2 billion, targeting AI-based market research

Salesforce is in talks to acquire AI-based customer research platform ListenLabs in a deal valued at $2 billion, Business Insider reported on Sept. 9. The report said the negotiations have not been finalised and could fall through. Founded in 2023, ListenLabs provides AI-based market analysis services to clients including Anthropic, Google and Nestle. Earlier this year it was valued at $500 million in a funding round joined by Sequoia Capital, Ribbit Capital and Conviction Partners.

As AI chips grow, packaging substrates shift from round wafers to square panels

As AI chips grow in area, investment is starting at home and abroad to switch packaging bases from round wafers to large square substrates. Using square panels can process 5 to 6 times more chips at once than wafers, raising area utilisation to 87 percent from 57 percent. Competition is also intensifying between Taiwan and South Korean companies over panel-level packaging, a process that reassembles cut chips on a panel and builds moulding and redistribution layers.
