KOSPI triggers level 1 circuit breaker after sell sidecar, 13th time ever
South Korea\'s KOSPI fell more than 8 percent, triggering a level 1 circuit breaker on the Korea Exchange after a sell sidecar was activated earlier in the session. The measure halted trading in listed stocks on the main board, excluding bonds, for 20 minutes and suspended the acceptance of new orders except for cancellation orders. It was the seventh activation this year and the 13th since April 2000.

South Korea\'s KOSPI fell more than 8 percent on Friday, triggering a Level 1 circuit breaker on the main KOSPI market as heavy selling, led by large semiconductor stocks, intensified. The Korea Exchange said trading in all listed shares was halted for 20 minutes. The move marked the fifth activation this year and the 11th on record. A sell-sidecar measure was also triggered earlier in the session.
