Competition in offline payment terminals is heating up as face payment draws attention and spreads, prompting Naver Pay and Toss to race to expand merchant networks. Naver Pay is pushing its Npay Connect terminal, linking payments to reviews, coupons and other services, and says installations have surpassed 100,000 stores. Toss is expanding FacePay use cases with its Toss Front terminal, citing growth to over 6 million registered users and widening partnerships and events.

Viva Republica, the operator of Toss, will work with Nonghyup Mokuchon’s dining business unit to roll out its facial payment service, Facepay, at restaurant franchise stores in phases. Toss said on Thursday it signed a strategic business agreement and will install Toss Front at Mokuchon dining brands. The rollout will cover Toreore, Wellbeing Maeul, Misowadon and the new M Cafe brand. The companies also plan joint payment promotions and marketing.
