LG Uplus is expanding promotions for lifestyle-focused partner plans with Toss Mobile.

LG Uplus said on Aug. 17 it is selling five Toss Mobile budget mobile plans on its budget-phone integrated platform, AlDot, combining benefits tied to the facial-recognition payment service FacePay.

Toss Mobile, which uses the LG Uplus network, previously introduced a “Toss X CU” plan offering discounts at CU convenience stores and has now launched plans combining FacePay benefits. FacePay is a service that lets customers pay in stores using facial recognition without a wallet or smartphone if they register their face and payment method in advance.

People in their 20s and 30s made up 56 percent of subscribers to the FacePay partner plans launched on Aug. 3. LG Uplus explained that interest is continuing, especially among young customers familiar with mobile finance and payment services, in products that combine telecom services with daily-life benefits.

The FacePay partner plans come in five types depending on data allowance: 7GB+, 10GB+, 71GB+, 100 minutes and 15GB+, and 100GB+. After signing up, customers can use them for 8,000 to 16,000 won a month for seven months.

Subscribers will receive a FacePay coupon worth 2,000 won each month for up to 24 months, starting two months after the month of activation. They will also receive an additional coupon worth 10,000 won after four months from activation, for benefits worth up to 58,000 won.

AlDot also sells Toss Mobile’s “Toss X CU” plan. Customers who sign up by the end of this month can receive a 20 percent discount, up to 5,000 won a month, when buying products at CU offline stores. It also offers point accrual benefits of up to 5 percent, including CU membership. The benefits apply for up to 24 months after signing up.

Park Dae-yong (박대용), head of MVNO business at LG Uplus, said demand is continuing to grow, even in the budget-phone market, for differentiated services that can improve customer experience. He said the company will continue to work with various partners to introduce products and benefits that provide practical value.
