Viva Republica, operator of Toss, has introduced a lifestyle-focused credit card with Shinhan Card for users of its facial payment service FacePay.
Toss said on Wednesday it launched the PLCC, the Toss One Shinhan Card, with Shinhan Card.
The Toss One Shinhan Card is for users of Toss' facial payment service FacePay and Toss Pay. It focuses benefits on everyday spending categories such as cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, beauty and health.
It offers a basic 1 percent discount on offline payments. A 3 percent discount applies when paying at Toss Front terminals. Paying with FacePay provides a 17 percent discount. Including FacePay's basic points accrual, benefits are provided at up to around 20 percent.
Using Toss Pay online and offline also provides a 3 percent discount with no industry restrictions. Offline and online benefits are provided up to a monthly maximum of 33,000 won depending on the previous month's spending, and discounted transactions are included in the previous month's performance.
Cardholders receive Toss Prime free for 2 months. After that, if they achieve the 400,000 won-or-more spending tier for 2 consecutive months, Toss supports the Toss Prime fee for that month.
The annual fee is 27,000 won for domestic-only and 30,000 won for cards that can be used overseas.
A Toss official said, "As facial payment is taking hold as a daily payment method beyond a new technology, we wanted to provide benefits that users can feel as well." The official added, "We will continue to introduce various services so that the payment experience and benefits can be naturally connected."
Toss also held a brand day event, "FacePay on the Road with Hanwha Eagles," on June 30 at Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon with the Hanwha Eagles.
Hanwha Life Ballpark installed Toss' payment terminal Toss Front at all food and beverage stores in the stadium, and 3 percent of the payment amount is immediately credited when paying with FacePay.
On the day, it operated a brand booth in the central hall of Hanwha Life Ballpark, and a character modeled after Toss' facial authentication payment terminal, the Toss Front, also threw the ceremonial first pitch.
