AMAT says AI chip performance hinges on data movement, solution is 3D scaling
Applied Materials says efficiency in moving data, rather than computing speed, is the main bottleneck for AI semiconductor performance and that the industry solution is 3D scaling. It described 3D scaling across logic, memory and packaging, and said capacity expansion should accompany demand. The company detailed approaches for DRAM, a shift in HBM stacking from micro-bumps to hybrid bonding, and panel interposer development, while highlighting cooperation with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix in Korea.

Pearl Abyss said on Tuesday it has launched an \'Crimson Desert Enhanced\' version and will run a 20 percent discount promotion across all platforms. The company will sell the game at a discounted price on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Apple Mac and the Epic Games Store until Sept. 9. Existing buyers of \'Crimson Desert\' can update to the enhanced version for free.

Pearl Abyss said on Monday its open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert was nominated in two categories at the 2026 Gamescom Awards. The title is shortlisted for Epic and Best PC Game. Winners are set to be announced on Aug. 28 based on combined voting by the jury, Gamescom attendees and viewers. Public voting opens at 4 p.m. Korea time on Aug. 26.
