[Digital Today reporter Lee Ho-jung] Pearl Abyss released a preview video on Tuesday for the first downloadable content (DLC) for "Crimson Desert Enhanced" titled "Unknown Journey."

"Unknown Journey" will be launched simultaneously worldwide on Oct. 30, Korea time. The DLC expands gameplay beyond land-based adventures to include ocean sailing and underwater exploration, character relationships, facility management and housing.

The story unfolds as Cliff, Damian and Ungka set out to find their own paths and meet new characters along the way.

In the open ocean, players can gather resources to build and customize ships before setting sail. Added content also includes exploring multiple islands, eliminating hostile forces and developing strongholds with Gray Mane companions.

Underwater exploration is also newly introduced. Players can wear a self-crafted diving suit to search for underwater ruins, treasure and resources, and an underwater means of transport is also added.

The character relationship system has also been expanded. Cliff, Ungka and Damian can build trust with certain characters to develop romantic relationships or get married. It also includes an element in which characters with higher affinity visit the Gray Mane camp.

In the stronghold management content, players can lease some facilities across Pywel, place companions and equipment, and secure goods by deciding what to sell and how to operate.

Housing features have also been strengthened. Players can design not only indoor interiors but also place structures such as walls and windows and plan the basic layout of a house, and if some castles are liberated, their interiors can be decorated for use as living spaces.

Boss fight-focused combat content is also added. Players can face powerful bosses that appear in Pywel one after another to obtain rewards.

Jo Yong-hyun (조용현), a development producer director at Pearl Abyss, said, "The adventure of Crimson Desert Enhanced expands beyond the land to the seas of Pywel." He added, "We prepared it so players can experience another adventure through new content such as ocean exploration, romance, management and housing."

"Crimson Desert Enhanced: Unknown Journey" is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players who pre-order will receive a character-specific "Unknown Explorer" diving suit item.
