LG Uplus triples base station equipment link distance in validation with Ericsson

LG Uplus validated a long-distance fronthaul technology with Ericsson that can extend the connection distance between base station equipment by up to three times while maintaining stable communications quality. The company also tested fronthaul equipment and network automation functions provided by Ericsson, checking interoperability with its own base station equipment. It verified communications quality in long-distance environments and validated a DU redundancy feature that automatically switches to backup equipment if failures occur.

SKT wins most innovative 5G service award at Network X for AI-RAN technology

SK Telecom said it won the award for the most innovative 5G communications service at the Network X Awards in Vienna on Oct. 14 local time. The company received the prize for its autonomous vehicle movement technology using an AI-based radio access network, or AI-RAN. SKT said it developed and tested AI-RAN base stations and verified stable communications while processing AI services. It plans to apply the technology at domestic car plants in 2027.

NIA to test AI-RAN on university campuses to boost competitiveness of Korean networks

South Korea\'s National Information Society Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT will use university campuses to test AI-RAN that combines AI and network technology. They launched the \'K-AI Network Competitiveness Enhancement\' project at Seoul National University on Oct. 1. The core campus pilot will receive 2.2 billion won in government funding this year and run through December 2027 with Newgens and partners.
