Qualcomm launches AI startup incubation programme in Asia-Pacific

Qualcomm said it will support AI product development by startups in Asia-Pacific including South Korea. Qualcomm Technologies said it is launching the Qualcomm AI Innovators Program (QAIPI) 2026 - APAC for startups in South Korea, Singapore and Japan to help develop edge AI solutions. The programme provides hardware, technical guidance and mentoring, along with grants of up to $10,000 for product development and up to $5,000 in patent filing incentives.

KB Kookmin Bank opens Busan non-face-to-face loan screening center

KB Kookmin Bank said it opened a Busan screening center dedicated to reviewing non-face-to-face loans. The center was set up on the fourth floor of the Busan Beomil-dong Comprehensive Financial Center using unused space at a branch, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and speeding up screening services. It will review credit loan applications and extensions filed via KB Star Banking, and handle extension reviews for some rental deposit loans. The bank expects job creation and regional development effects.

KOSPI triggers buy sidecar after previous day's sell sidecar

South Korea’s KOSPI market flipped from a sharp decline to a sharp rise in a day, prompting sidecar curbs for a second consecutive session. The Korea Exchange said it triggered a buy sidecar at 9:26 a.m. on Feb. 3 after a steep rise in futures prices. KOSPI 200 futures rose 5.05 percent from the previous close and stayed up more than 5 percent for 1 minute, leading to a five-minute halt on program trading buy orders.
