[Digital Today reporter Seulgi Son] Online video service (OTT) Wavve said on Wednesday it will introduce a "media commerce" feature. It will also sharply expand the number of real-time channels in its TV app to 45.

Starting on Thursday, Wavve will add a new "commerce band" at the bottom of viewing screens for KLPGA and KPGA tour golf live broadcasts and VOD. It displays products related to the viewing context, and users who tap it are linked to a purchase page.

The first partner is Olive Young. Beauty products such as sunscreen and UV-blocking patches will be displayed while watching golf content. The commerce band will be provided with the same screen layout regardless of content type, including live broadcasts, VOD and clips. Wavve plans to gradually increase partner brands based on user responses and data.

A Wavve official said, "It is an important journey to create an 'everyday platform' that people enjoy daily, from real-time broadcasts to commerce." The official added, "We will continue to push forward service upgrades for a new and convenient viewing experience."
